A 60-day cruise circling Australia is being halted following the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was abandoned by the vessel on a isolated island.

The passenger had been trekking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a rest. The liner departed without her and went back later that day after the ship staff became aware the lady was missing.

A major rescue mission discovered her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, together with law enforcement and the official investigator.
